Training 30th May - 5th June

Another great week of training under your belts. Great to see so many of you running well on Tuesday. Paul Tabor tells me you all ran great yesterday for the 15 x 1 mins. Looking forward now to a good summer of training and racing you'll want to drop a few weekly miles and concentrate on increasing the intensity of the quality sessions. So please be careful to not add in any unnecessary sessions or extra swims, bike sessions or similar. The benefits will come from the running and the recovery. Paul Tabor will be organising the groups Tuesday and I will be back from Saturday. If there are any of you that are injured or taking a break could you try and come along to the sessions and give us a hand ta.  Suggested week: M Easy 45-60 mins T Schedule W Easy 70 mins T Schedule F Easy 25 mins or rest S Schedule S Long run with a couple of quicker miles [don't run them all slow!]

Week Starting 23rd May

Hi All, hope you are doing well. We are now right at the start of the summer block, with a few races under your belt. You’re in a really good place. I am now changing things around a bit. No more Thursday tempos. Please don't do them or any session for that matter on a Thursday. Thursday will be an easy 60-70 mins of running. Nice and relaxed. This will set you up nicely for more quality on Saturdays and for some good quality long runs on Sunday. It will also allow you to get a good quality Tuesday and a longer midweek run without over training. Good to see the group working together and getting together. Lovely to see how you are supporting one another and enjoying each other’s improvements.  After Tuesday 24th May I am away on Holiday and will continue to post the generic schedule and 1-1 schedules but will be dumping my phone etc as I have just worked 40 straight days and I'm feeling it now!  To be fair though you are all an amazingly independent bunch. I'm not the kind ...

So, what a week it’s been as a group. Tuesday was a very hard session that you all did fantastic on. It was also great to have Simons group in with us. We can replicate this on Tuesday too as it will be to the whistle. All welcome.     I am hugely busy with exhibitions now so I have to keep the sessions near my house – so Tuesday will be at Compton again. Saturday will be track at Aldersley. The two sessions are half miles and quarter mile sessions with an emphasis on 5-10k. The extra tempo efforts after the sessions are built in to develop a big engine and endurance.    Stand out performances must go to Mr and Mrs Wolves Endurance Sab and Dan. Both have had a massive training week where we built in sessions and races without a taper to build some strength. Both ran fantastic at Cheshire 5K and then Dan ran a half marathon PB [2 min] on the Sunday!   Another squad member who never fails to run the sessions, encourage, and inspire us all is Paul Clarke. He ran a ...

Off the track this week but a great session on Tuesday for you that will be a real test. All welcome from any group as we will be doing this off the whistle.  Stand out runs this week have to be Dan and Sab who ran brilliantly at Hereford with Dan lowering his 5k PB again. Nick Beach smashing through the 20 min barrier on the same night and course. Paul Clarke smashed his 10K PB recoding a brilliant time of 39 mins. Newbie Darren Owen-Jones also smash his PB with new time of 37 mins. And Nick Beach did the double this week and recorded another PB with a bit over 40 mins for 10k. All of them repped Wolves at this years Market Drayton. Sorry if I have missed anyone off.  Beth Tabor ran a storming race last week at London 10000m with and impressive PB of 38 mins. One of the top under 23 females too.  So onwards and upwards as they say. See you Tuesday.
