Week Starting 23rd May

Hi All, hope you are doing well. We are now right at the start of the summer block, with a few races under your belt. You’re in a really good place.

I am now changing things around a bit. No more Thursday tempos. Please don't do them or any session for that matter on a Thursday. Thursday will be an easy 60-70 mins of running. Nice and relaxed. This will set you up nicely for more quality on Saturdays and for some good quality long runs on Sunday. It will also allow you to get a good quality Tuesday and a longer midweek run without over training.

Good to see the group working together and getting together. Lovely to see how you are supporting one another and enjoying each other’s improvements.

After Tuesday 24th May I am away on Holiday and will continue to post the generic schedule and 1-1 schedules but will be dumping my phone etc as I have just worked 40 straight days and I'm feeling it now!

To be fair though you are all an amazingly independent bunch. I'm not the kind of coach that believes I need to be with you all the time anyway. I think there are too many insecure coaches out there that feel they must do that. But you lot are head strong and train together well. And others kindly step and time when I can't make it. Which is great when I am so tired, that I get on the wrong train and accidentally arrive at the wrong city leaving you to have to complete the session without me!!! Thank you to Dave N and Simon C for stepping in!!!

So, after Tuesday 24th May you won’t see me again until Saturday 4th June.

I do have a couple of requests just based on observations… Please come to all the sessions. Your presence is so important to the dynamic of the group. If you’re going to attend sessions but then miss them to run parkrun or other, then you’re not pulling your weight in regards the group. I dislike that kind of attitude. Especially when most of the group have most likely got you through sessions that have enabled you to race to your potential. Always put more back in.

Lastly, there is never any reason to ask me if I would like you to train with another group. If a coach asks you to that’s their prerogative - although out of order and it is not something I would ever do myself. It’s always going to be a ‘no’ from me as I have specifically planned and written my sessions for YOU! Coaches that do this have always been around and they normally want you to pull their athletes round. It’s all about them.

So, people see you Tuesday for a brand new week,
