Week starting 1st of December
Last orders before Christmas people: get you kit orders in. Let me know what you want.
This week a lot of us are racing over the weekend, so we’ll be getting some shorter speed work in on Tuesday to give you an easier week and help you race well.
The following weeks will then consist of Tuesday road sessions and Saturdays that mix cross-country work with some road reps. Saturday was a huge success with TRX x Andy Bentley, and it was great to see the positivity. It was also good to see people who are usually rivals in races putting in a shift together and realising how much you can get out of working with others.
Training with different people is one of the best ways to build confidence and lift your mojo when motivation dips. It can also break down the myth that certain runners are unbeatable. With that in mind, we’ll be looking to work with other coaches and clubs over the next 12 months.
A massive well done to Derrick who ran a low-17 5k at the Battersea 5k this weekend — brilliant running.
And well done to Beth and Dylan who ran at The Curl Curl Parkrun, with Beth taking the win and Dylan running strong.
We’re coming up to six years since we started this group. We’ve seen so much joy, progression and friendship, and we’ve experienced some brilliant moments together. We’re not going anywhere — our roots are firmly planted, and our ethos is simple: inclusion for all. Turn up when it suits you, train hard, and enjoy a coffee afterwards. No politics, no stress, no hidden agendas.
And next month we’ll be stepping out in our race kit for some winter races.
We’ll be at Shrewsbury 5k under the lights and at Wheaton Aston 10k.
Boxing Day will be our traditional Dominic Kemp Handicap.
Boxing Day Handicap Run
10.00am Start
A simple community tradition: turn up, run hard, and shake off Christmas Day.
The race takes place each year in honour of Dominic Kemp and is open to everyone — all clubs, all abilities, all paces.
To receive your individual handicap, please send your most recent 5k PB when you enter.
A great way to bring people together and celebrate the spirit of local running.
More details to follow.
