Week starting 9th September

Huge efforts over the last couple of weeks from so many of you. A few performances really stand out to me: Paul Clarke's mile in the DCM was an impressively mature and controlled win. Although, he can now piss off for the picture he posted today of me looking like a soggy mess at Wolves' shite half! Jon Hart’s 5k at Mid Cheshire was also very impressive – 15 minutes dead is a bit cruel, but to be fair, he’s only been taking this stuff seriously for a short time, so there's a lot more to come. Dylan Illidge’s half marathon at the Great North, recognised as a tough course, was exceptional. 78 minutes, all down to his hard work and long runs with pace!

Tony Cheema's excellent 80-minute half is fantastic to see, entirely due to him upping his mileage and the effort he puts in. This, despite the elapsed times on his runs and scrounging drinks from various shops and cafés along the way! Alex Kelly’s win today was wonderful to witness firsthand as he came up the ring road. Again, he's put in a whole summer of hard work. This one is a bit biased, but I have to thank you all for embracing him and making him feel part of the group - Serge’s mile brought a tear to my cynical eye on Thursday. It made me proud to see his progress. Thank you all for playing a part in that.

It’s also been good to see James Neilson joining us this week. Hopefully see more of him going forward.

Now, moving on to this week...

Tuesday: Warmed up and ready to go at 6:50 pm, Aldersley track: 16 x 400m with 60 seconds rest. Some of you will do fewer reps depending on what you did this weekend, your fitness level, and whether you're racing the Nationals.

Saturday: Those not doing Nationals, please do a flat-out parkrun followed by 6 x 1-minute efforts with 1-minute rest.
Those doing Nationals, I'll see you there.
