Week Starting 11th April

Huge well done to everyone of you that repped the club yesterday at the relays. Did yourselves proud. We didn't go into it to win. We went to represent the club and mix it up with the best. If you've ran on that horrible course this spring you will no doubt feel the benefits coming into the summer. Fantastic performances with a few of you running substantially quicker than the previous outing, which is not an easy thing to do. We'll be back for the Midlands 6 stage and then the National 6 stage in September. Lets build the best teams we can.

Anyone over 35 years old look out for the masters relays coming up very soon too. Dave Norman will have more information on that.

On Wednesday we saw a few of you head over to Hereford for a 5k. Fantastic performances from Louie, Dan, Sab and of course a massive PB by Nick. The hard work you lot are putting in is starting to pay off.

I'd also like to welcome Darren Owen-Jones to the group. Very talented runner that made his Wolves relay debut yesterday. Well done Darren great run. Another fantastic performance yesterday was by Paul Clarke who sadly couldn't make the relays due to personal circumstance and managed to grab a brilliant PB at wolves parkrun clocking up a superb 19.26.

Thanks to Duncan who took the session for us on Tuesday and a huge thank you to our massively dedicated team manger who once again worked tirelessly to get a team out yesterday Dave Norman. Got to hear some interesting stories from Ian Stewart, he will not be able to repeat in public!!!

Lastly, I am always happy to criticise the people that rule our sport and there are many, many people in roles for reasons that are beyond my understanding. However, I took some time out to talk to the race referee yesterday and observe the officials. He told me that this years relays were ever so blighted by covid. With teams finding it hard to get the required numbers. Which is even more impressive that you lot got out there and did your thing brilliantly. However, they luckily managed to get an enormous amount of officials out. They are all trained and qualified and give over at least 6 hours of their time for the relays. Sometimes giving a night in the week and both Saturdays and Sundays each weekend. They are often retired or parents of athletes. If you are interested in becoming an official please see Noel. There were over 30 officials all working hard on the finish line recording times, places and ushering runners to the start and finish funnel. It was incredible to watch.

So, heres a schedule for a month! Lots of track work in here. Mixing up 5-10k training. I have also indicated in parts the emphasis on the training. I will contact those I coach on a 1-1 basis today with stuff to do outside of this generic schedule. Have a good one people,
